Stuart was the original drummer with Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel who enjoyed 3 top 10 albums and the Number 1 single Make Me Smile… Come Up and See Me which is also one of the top 100 hit records of the decade (70s) plus 4 other top 10 singles. Stuart still goes out periodically on the road with Steve Harley playing in the UK and Europe. Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel opened for the Rolling Stones (pictured above) in 2007 in St. Petersburg, playing before a crowd of 40,000 at the Palace Square.
Stuart played drums on Paul McCartney’s hit single No More Lonely Nights (featuring David Gilmour on guitar) and also played live with Ringo Starr in Munich for the Michael Jackson and friends show.
Stuart worked extensively with Kate Bush (all albums) from “The Kick Inside” which featured the No 1 single “Wuthering Heights” which is also one of the top 100 hits of the decade (70s) and numerous top ten singles (Running Up that Hill, Babooshka, Breathing) and albums up to and including her highly acclaimed album “Aerial”
Stuart was the drummer with The Alan Parsons Project (about 10 albums) from “Pyramid” onwards. In the 1990s, Stuart was instrumental in bringing the music of the Project to live audiences for the first time and made key musical and songwriting contributions to all of the band’s albums released under the name Alan Parsons. He toured extensively from 1994 to 2000 as the Alan Parsons Live Project where the band covered the US, South America, Japan and most of Europe some 6 or 7 times during the period.
Stuart has worked with many other high profile artists including Al Stewart (No 1 USA album and single Year of the Cat), Kenny Rogers (Heart of the Matter album), B.A Roberston (No 1 single Bang Bang), Chris Rea, Toyah Wilcox, and Jack Bruce (Cream) album and live concerts. He toured the US with Roger Daltry (The Who) where he also had the pleasure to play with John Entwistle and John Parr (St Elmo’s Fire). He played with Jon Anderson (Yes) and Alice Cooper on the “Ultimate British Rock Symphony tour” He also played live at the Belgian Proms for Sting, Simple Minds, Paul Young, Coolio, John Miles, and Debbie Harry. Other artists Stuart has played with include Eric Clapton, Elton John, Tina Turner, and Roxy Music (Top of the pops and TV appearances).
